Understand TPE
Therapeutic plasma exchange removes a portion of your plasma and replaces it with sterile albumin. It is an FDA-approved medical procedure used in hospitals for decades, now applied to longevity — and it is not right for everyone. Take four minutes to understand it properly, and you will know before you speak to anyone whether it belongs in your plan.
We built the first health optimization center of its kind: diagnostics, IV therapy, hormone optimization, peptides, regenerative therapy and advanced imaging under one roof. TPE is one protocol inside that system, and our clinical team will tell you honestly if a different starting point would serve you better.
The whole procedure, in four steps, so you can judge your own interest before spending time on a call.
A nurse places an IV in each arm. Your blood travels through a sealed, single-use sterile circuit and never touches open air.
An FDA-cleared apheresis device separates the amber plasma from your red cells, white cells and platelets.
A portion of that plasma is replaced with sterile albumin, a purified protein solution. Nothing comes from another person.
Your own cells are returned through the second line, in a cleaner medium. A registered nurse monitors you throughout.
Therapeutic plasma exchange is an FDA-approved medical procedure, performed on FDA-cleared apheresis technology, and used in hospitals for decades to treat serious conditions. This is not an experimental therapy invented for the wellness market.
Its specific application for longevity and performance is prescribed off-label at a physician's discretion and is not an FDA-approved indication. We would rather you know that now than hear it for the first time on a call.
Your first conversation is a pre-screening with our medical team: a short questionnaire to confirm you are a candidate, your questions answered, and a full walkthrough of the process. Keep reading below for candidacy and pricing, or start now.
Read this honestly before you book. If most of the left column sounds like you, the consultation will be a good use of your time. If it doesn't, we would rather point you somewhere better.
Turning the wrong candidate away is part of doing this responsibly. Your physician reviews your full history before anything is scheduled.
If you haven't had comprehensive bloodwork, or the investment isn't right for you today, TPE is not your best next move. Start with diagnostics. It costs a fraction of a protocol, tells you what is actually driving how you feel, and gives you real numbers to decide with later.
Most clinics make you book a call to learn the price. We would rather you decide with the number in front of you.
Self-pay. Some patients use HSA or FSA funds; eligibility depends on your plan. Your physician confirms the right protocol for you during your consultation.
It is a conversation with someone from our medical team, not a sales call. Here is exactly what it covers, so nothing about the process is a surprise.
Our medical team walks you through a structured set of questions covering your health history, medications and goals, to confirm whether you are a candidate for TPE.
Bring everything you are unsure about. This is the point where you get direct answers from a clinician rather than from a search result.
We walk you through the procedure end to end, what your session looks like, and what a protocol would involve for someone in your position.
Once you book, a member of our team will contact you to schedule your pre-screening. Replying promptly is what keeps things moving: screening slots with our medical team are limited, and your protocol cannot be planned until that conversation happens.
“I felt the difference immediately. Better sleep, faster recovery, mental clarity and energy I hadn't had in years.”
An individual patient experience. Results vary from person to person and are not guaranteed.
Protocols begin at $10,000 for a single session, with three-session and six-session protocols available at the prices published on this page. It is self-pay. Some patients use HSA or FSA funds, depending on their plan.
Therapeutic plasma exchange is an FDA-approved medical procedure and has been used in hospitals for decades to treat serious medical conditions, performed on FDA-cleared apheresis technology. Using it specifically for longevity and performance is an off-label application prescribed at a physician's discretion, and is not an FDA-approved indication. Your physician will walk you through what is and is not established.
Completely different. Nothing from another person enters your body. We remove a portion of your own plasma and replace it with sterile albumin, a purified protein solution.
You are in one of our private longevity treatment rooms for two to three hours, with a line in each arm. Your blood passes through a sealed, single-use sterile circuit, the plasma is separated and replaced, and your own cells are returned. A registered nurse monitors you the entire time.
The procedure has decades of hospital use behind it, and serious adverse events are rare. Side effects are typically temporary and resolve within about 24 hours. Like any medical procedure it carries risk, including a temporary drop in blood pressure and reactions to the citrate anticoagulant or albumin. Your physician reviews all of this with you.
It is a pre-screening with someone from our medical team. They walk you through a screening questionnaire covering your health history, medications and goals to confirm you are a candidate, answer any questions you have, and explain the procedure end to end. After you book, our team reaches out to schedule it, so please reply promptly when they do.
No referral is required. You do need a consultation with our clinical team, who review your history and determine whether you are a candidate before anything is scheduled.
That depends on your baseline and your goals, and your physician determines it with you. Many patients begin with a single session; others start with a three-session protocol to establish a trajectory.
We will tell you. Next Health is a longevity center with diagnostics, IV therapy, hormone optimization, peptides and regenerative therapy, so if a different starting point serves you better, that is what we will recommend.
